Butter My Biscuits Had Me at Bacon

I showed up hungry. That feels like a small detail, yet it matters here. The pop up for Butter My Biscuits! Café rolled into town with a food truck, a line of smiling bloggers, and the kind of smell that makes your stomach start talking back. Paper plates, folks chatting like old friends. My kind of afternoon.

Amy, the owner, floated around with that calm smile that says, “Yes, I fed everyone and yes, I’m still happy.” Her husband was behind the scenes as head chef, and wow, that teamwork shows up on the plate. Every single person I talked to kept saying the same thing, just in different words. This food is really good. Like pause-your-conversation good.

Let’s talk about the Jackpot Bacon. You know the fancy bacon you see at brunch spots with shiny glaze and big promises. This one lived up to the hype. Sweet, salty, a little sticky on the fingers. I grabbed a piece and instantly thought Dave would have eaten half my plate if he were there. I guarded it like a mom protecting fries.

Then came the biscuits and gravy. I took one bite and actually stopped chewing for a second. Best I’ve ever had. Fluffy biscuit, gravy with real depth, not the gluey kind that just sits there. Comfort food that feels like someone cared. I had a tiny emotional moment, standing by a food truck, holding a fork. Blanca would have asked why I was being dramatic. Patrick would have asked for ketchup.

And the patty melt. Oh my goodness. I finished it and immediately wanted another. Crispy bread, juicy burger, melty cheese doing exactly what it should do. I heard someone nearby say they planned to dream about it later. Same.

What made the whole thing extra sweet was the vibe. No rushing, no weird pressure, just Amy checking in, chatting, making sure everyone felt welcome. That kind of warmth sticks with you. The name alone already had me smiling, and now it’s fully earned. Butter My Biscuits! just sounds happy. It sounds like something you say out loud after the first bite.

This spot is set to be a daytime café with breakfast, brunch, and lunch, and I’m already planning imaginary mornings there. The kind where you sip coffee slowly, share bites, and forget about school drop off for a minute. Orlando is getting something special, and I’m counting the days until the doors open. If this pop up was any hint, my brunch plans are officially booked for the rest of the year.
