Drew Thomas Magic Show: Finally a Date Night

Magic show flyer.

I meant to write this weeks ago, then November hit me with that shiny new bar manager job and suddenly my calendar laughed in my face. Days blurred, feet hurt, coffee turned into a food group. Life stuff. Real stuff.

Back in mid-October, Dave pulled off a miracle of his own and took me out on a real date night. No backpacks, no snack negotiations, no bedtime countdowns. Just us. We went to the Drew Thomas Magic Show and I’m still smiling about it.

The show itself felt like a bunch of happy surprises tossed into one night. Magic tricks that made me squint. Card tricks that had the crowd gasping. Things disappearing right in front of my eyeballs, which made me clutch my purse like that might help. There was live music mixed in, which I loved way more than I expected. Then Kayla stepped up and sang “Nothing Else Matters” and wow. I’ve heard that song a million times, yet this version gave me chills. Real ones. The kind that make you forget your phone exists.

We went to the Halloween version, which added a little spooky fun without going full haunted house. Perfect balance. I heard they’re running a Christmas show now and honestly, that sounds like a great excuse for round two. This show screams family-friendly energy. Blanca would have been wide-eyed the whole time. Patrick would still be asking how they did that trick during the drive home. Next time, kids might be coming with us.

Quick mom-to-mom tip. Go early. Like, earlier than you think. Parking can be a hike if you end up on the JW Marriott side. The Ritz side sends you to valet, which is smooth yet a little wallet-painful. The ballroom location can be a little tricky to find. We almost jogged in holding hands like teenagers who forgot what time it was. Extra time saves stress and keeps mascara intact.

A night full of laughs, music, and that fun feeling of being fooled in the best way. Dave and I needed that. I needed that. If you’re craving something fun that doesn’t feel stuffy or awkward, put this on your list. And maybe book the sitter. Or bring the kids. Either way, magic does the heavy lifting.
